Formed in 1980 in Basildon, Essex, Depeche Mode – Martin Gore, Dave Gahan and Andy Fletcher – have cultivated a dramatic electronic sound that has proved influential to innumerable artists, across genres from alternative and indie to electronic and heavy metal.
