Set to be one of the most highly anticipated tours of 2020, Stormzy has announced a huge 55-date ‘H.I.T.H. World Tour’ covering Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, North America and Africa. And there is no doubt that this announcement coincides with the phenomenal period in his career. At the beginning of the month, the 26-year-old artist announced the release date of his new album Heavy Is The Head, and last week he released his brand new single ‘Own It’ featuring Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy.
From the release of debut EP Dreamers Disease (2014), the huge success of the first album Gang Signs & Prayer (2017), to the spectacular performances at the Glastonbury or Open’er Festival, the British rapper grew stronger with each passing year. Recent months have shown that he undoubtedly deserves a crown, which is symbolically placed on the cover of his upcoming album. The rapper, who for the first years of his career actively participated in the development of the underground music scene, is today known for his involvement in social issues. Currently, Stormzy is considered one of the most inspiring figures of British culture which he used during his performance at Glastonbury, when in between songs he highlighted a plethora of social issues.
While he is inspired by the leading characters of grime, hip-hop and soul (he expressed his love for Skepta, Wiley, Drake, Frank Ocean and Lauryn Hill) Stormzy is also an inspiration for other artists today. On the one hand, he flirts with pop, recording with stars like Ed Sheeran, on the other his special concert outfit was designed and created by none other than Banksy.
Stormzy's upcoming album was entirely produced by the artist, and the lyrics still deal with many important topics known from his previous artwork. Heavy Is The Head also features such artists as Aitch, Burna Boy, Ed Sheeran, Headie One, H.E.R., Tiana Major9 and YEBBA.
